But before buying, make sure to look for the quality of LED bulb, which are as:

1.  Lumens(lm), not Watt

When you shop bulbs, the first thing which stand in front of you is, Watt. To determine the brightness of bulb.

Watt is for energy consumption.

For example, an LED bulb with 8 to 12 watt gives brightness as of 60W incandescent bulb.

LED technology has emerged great in the last couple of years and some types of LED are available in a range of color temperatures from warm white (2700K/3000K) up to daylight (6000K and above).

3.  Non-dimmable LED’s

The dimmers, which were designed to work with incandescent bulbs. It works by cutting the electricity amount sent to the bulb. Light would be dimmer if less electricity will be drawn. But with your newly acquired knowledge of LED, you know that there is no direct correlation between LED brightness and energy drawn.

If you’d like your LED to be dimmable, then you should try these things:

Find LED bulbs which are compatible with traditional dimmers, or try replace your current dimming switch with a leading-edge (LED-compatible) dimmer.

When you choose to buy an LED bulb, it can help you to know what kind of dimming switch you have, but if you have no idea then try to search for LED bulbs compatible with standard incandescent dimmers.

4.  Heat Output

LEDs give off relatively little heat than other. At the same time it do run a bit warm and often incorporate with a heat sink to dissipate any excess heat and maintain the LEDs at operating temperature.

5.  Life of LED

It is one of the main point of LED that makes it more useful in current time.

It’s Lifespan.

It ranges from 20,000 to 50, 000 hours, which is almost 20 to 50 times than a standard incandescent bulb.

The maintenance and extra charges are not so much for LED bulbs.
